Efficient water treatment upgrade for a global fertilizer manufacturer
Efficient water treatment upgrade for a global fertilizer manufacturer
Problem

A global manufacturer, producing products such as fertilizer, faced two main issues in their water treatment process. Firstly, the total suspended solids (TSS) and iron (Fe) levels in the wastewater from the lime decarbonation process were too high. Secondly, the frequent regeneration of the mixed bed polisher was causing operational challenges. Additionally, converting the reverse osmosis (RO) system to a double-pass (DP) configuration led to capacity problems.

Solution

Logisticon Water Treatment provided a solution to reduce TSS and iron levels in the wastewater by replacing the existing lime decarbonation plant with an ultrafiltration (UF) unit.
This not only improved water quality but also simplified the treatment process.

To meet the increased capacity demand, Logisticon designed a surface water treatment system consisting of chemical-physical treatment and filtration. This system feeds both a new double-pass reverse osmosis (DPRO) unit and the existing reverse osmosis (RO) installation.

Additionally, the existing RO unit was reconfigured from single-pass (SP) to double-pass (DP) operation to further improve the permeate quality, making it suitable for use as demineralised water.
