Using brackish groundwater to enhance drinking water supply

Problem

A water company supplies approximately 73,000,000 cubic meters of drinking water to more than 600,000 households and businesses across 18 municipalities in the South Holland province of the Netherlands.

The company faces a problem: there is a need to find additional sources of water that are less vulnerable to salinization and that can help bridge longer dry periods. One potential solution is to use groundwater from beneath the dunes.

Solution

Logisticon Water Treatment will extract the brackish groundwater near the wells and direct it to the test hall, where salt and other contaminants will be removed from the water using reverse osmosis technology.
